Services
Weekly Services – Sunday 10.00 am at Epuni School Hall but not this week (21 Jan 2024). We’re at family camp!
We meet weekly as a whole church family at Epuni School Hall (313 Waiwhetu Road) and then during the week in various small groups across Epuni/Fairfield.
Come and visit – here’s what to expect
If you’re thinking about paying us a visit, we’d love to have you. Our weekly service at Epuni School would be a great place to start. Our services are for everyone. Come as you are, and we’ll do our best to make you feel welcome. Here’s what you can expect…
Parking – Parking is available in two small car parks on the school grounds or along Waiwhetu Rd.
Before the service – When you arrive you’ll be greeted in the foyer, and given a church newsletter. We begin our service at 10 am, so feel free to mix and mingle, or find a seat.
Our service – During a typical service we’ll worship God through singing, we’ll hear what’s going on in the life of the church, we’ll pray a bit, read scripture, and hear a sermon (usually around 20-30 minutes long). We value involvement and interaction, so that means we often have times of open prayer, where people can also feel free to bring a word of encouragement, or read something from the Bible aloud. Often there will be time for discussion during the sermon too. We receive communion together on the first Sunday of each month.
Children and families – During the school term we run a programme for children aged 3 through to intermediate-age and we have a play space for the under 3s.
After the service – Our Sunday services run from 10 am to about 11.30 am. After that, people often stay for morning tea together. If you’re visiting, we’d love for you to stick around and have a chat.
Children
Kids’ church runs during church time through the school term and is for designed for children from 3 years old, up to and including Year 8s. We enjoy a programme that is Bible-based with songs, games, a Bible story and an art or craft activity.
Youth
Epuni Youth – School years 9 – 13
- Epuni youth group meets weekly during term, Mondays 6:30-8 pm.
- Youth group aims to grow disciples and grow in relationship with one another and with Jesus.
- We do life together through meals, games, Bible study and vulnerability, through sharing testimony and praying for one another.
Intermediates – School years 6-8
- Intermediates meet fortnightly during term time, Fridays 5-6pm
- Intermediates aims to reach pre-teens for Jesus before they make the leap into high school.
- We do this through games, crafts and physical activities that lead into a short discussion time.
Prayer
When we pray, things change.
When we pray, our God hears.
When we pray, not only do the things around us change, but we also change in the process.
Prayer is both an essential practice and a pure delight in the life of Epuni Baptist Church. We gather together weekly to pray on a Saturday morning at 10 am. This is an obligation-free, come as you are, type of event. There is nothing else on the agenda but to sit at the feet of God, worship Him, and bring our requests before Him. We are all learning, and so we have the posture of the early disciples when they said, “Lord, would you teach us to pray?”. Sometimes this looks like silent prayer, other times it is intercession out loud. Sometimes we minister to one another, other times we sing praises to God. And always, we are learning to hear His voice.
Feel free to join us at the Ministry Centre, 300 Waiwhetu Road at 10 am on Saturday morning! We’d love to see you there. If you are seeking prayer for something more personal, please get in contact with a member of the Oversight Team.
Life Groups
We have different kinds of groups which meet regularly. Some groups have been meeting for a considerable time, built up huge trust and share deeply.
